Description

The Lawrenceville site is an urban location approximately 4 km northeast of downtown Pittsburgh. The surrounding land use is a mix of commercial, residential, and park land. This site provides representative population exposure data for most of the ~1.2 million people living in Allegheny County, PA, and captures emissions from both typical urban sources like traffic and nearby industrial sources. The site is operated by the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD), and is located on top of the Health Department’s main offices. It is part of the National Core Network (NCore), the Photochemical Assessment Monitoring Stations (PAMS), National Air Toxics Trends Station (NATTS), and the Interagency Monitoring of Protected Visual Environments (IMPROVE) network. It has also served as a central hub for co-location of a network of low-cost sensors distributed across the Pittsburgh region since 2016.  Historical data can be accessed from the EPA.
